Quotes: Clean Up or Leave Alone

I think the reporter should consider how valuable the quote is. There are many different reasons why quotes contain bad grammar. If an eye-witness account uses bad grammar the quote still backs the story. I think it is also safe to say that a lot of people in today's society have bad grammar. It is so bad that not many people care to address nor pay attention to the bad grammar. Many people 
I was taught that if a quote was valuable, then use it. I was also taught that if it does not make sense then they can drop it. It would definietly need to be paraphrased.

I agree that a bad quote can often function, information-wise, as a good paraphrase instead.
