Narrative Lead

Hundreds of years ago, in Kibawe town in the province of Bukidnon in the southern Philippine – where Emmanuel Dapidran Pacquiao – was born, there lived a tribal hero named Datu Mambantayao, whose bravery and heroism remain in the heart of the village folks. One of the Datu’s most chivalrous adventures was the rescue of his Lady-Love, who was abducted by a rival tribe from a nearby island. With his band of loyal warriors, the Datu attacked the enemies and recovered his Muse, whom he later married.

The writer used a narrative lead to entroduce the family history of boxing superstar, Manny Pacquiao. It showed that there were signs of bavery and strength long before Manny was known around the world.

Wow, Paul did such a great job. I'm not saying it because its about me but that it was written so well. I truly enjoyed it. It was very accurate down to my feelings and little details about what my life. I really enjoyed which quotes he used and how it incorporated into his article.

Paul Sieger

The funny thing about random interviews are the many similarities each other will find about each other.

Paul Sieger is a 20-year old Skyline student. It is his first semester here at Skyline. He spent last year at the College of San Mateo (CSM). When asked why he switched schools Sieger responded, "its closer to home and CSM sucks anyways." 

Sieger is interested in majoring in journalism. He was introduced to journalism in CSM. He took the prerequsite for Journalism 120 at CSM. Sieger's major goal for his career would to run his own hip hop magazine. It was very interesting to find out about his love for hip hop since I recently attended the Rock the School Bells hip hop conference at school. We found common views on real hip hop not just what is commercialized. Since learning of his passion for the hip hop culture, I know one day he will have at least one subscriber.

My name is Rommel Conclara. I have been at Skyline way too long and I need to transfer. I started at Skyline in the Fall of 2004. This is going to be my second to last semester here. I am considering SF State and SJ State as my next school. I plan to double major in Journalism and Criminology. I am really focusing in school this year because I am overloading in each semester so wish me luck.
I'm a pretty normal guy. I love to play sports and work out. I work at Circuit City in San Mateo which is a really long drive sometimes. You can most likely find me at Skyline a lot this semester because I am really involved in the Kababayan program. I am this year's Executive Director for the 4th Annual Pilipino Cultural Night. So be sure to check it out.
